The Real Estate Council of Ontario
The mission of the Real Estate Council of Ontario (RECO) is to provide a regulatory environment that earns the full confidence of consumers, registrants and government. To this end, their mandate is to administer the regulatory requirements of the real estate industry as set down by the Government of Ontario (through the Real Estate and Business Brokers Act - REBBA), and to protect consumers through a fair, safe and informed marketplace.
RECO is responsible for professional standards, including setting standards for obtaining and maintaining licensing and membership in RECO, and developing and promoting professional development. All education providers must comply with RECO's standards in order to receive approved status and offer continuing education courses for credit in Ontario. RECO provides a variety of services to Ontario real estate professionals, including salesperson/broker registration and insurance.
